Incorporating families into treatment sessions is a vital part of Smile’s treatment approach. Through the guidance of our skilled therapeutic staff, parents learn strategies that are not only effective, but also enjoyable for the whole family.
Our approach is based on incorporating natural, everyday situations into treatment that are meaningful to not only the child but to the family. This provides the child with a sense of comfort and security, while giving parents practical strategies that can be applied everyday across environments. We strive to maintain a balance between nurturing and challenging the families that we serve in order to help each child achieve his or her maximum potential.

It Takes Two to Talk & More than Words are Hanen Parent Training Programs focused on providing parents with tools to help boost their child’s language development.
The Prompt Parent Workshops help caregivers understand the connection between language development and improving their child’s intelligibility (the ability to be understood). Parents learn a hands on approach that they can use to help their children say sounds more clearly.
Ongoing Parent & Family Support Groups that provide a community of support amongst participants via focus groups that highlight topics that matter the most to parents within a nurturing environment.
